The aim of the game is to grow up levels and be one of the strongest players. As you get higher and higher, it becomes harder and harder to grow levels. If you get bored of travelling around, you could do many other things, like making friends and doing quests. ----------------------- 2.00 Overview of Quests ----------------------- Quests are something NPC's (Non-Player Characters) in MapleStory ask you to do. Some tasks are simply delivering items to another place, collecting items or killing monsters. When you finish quests, you are usually rewarded with either items, exp or money. ----------------------------- 3.00 Overview of Party Quests ----------------------------- There are also special kinds of quests. They are called Party Quests (PQ for short) and require and certain number of people to be able to be completed. The PQ in Kerning City, which I am going to tell you about below, requires a party of four people. The one in Ludibrium requires 6 people. ------------------------------ 4.00 Guide for Kerning City PQ ------------------------------ Below is the guide for you to do the Kerning City Party Quest. There are 6 different stages. Each of the stages will be explained clearly below. -------------------------------------------------- 4.01 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Stage 1 -------------------------------------------------- In stage 1, talk to the NPC on the right side of the map. She will ask tell you to collect a certain number of coupons, depending on the question she asks. The possible questions are listed below, with the answers in brackets beside them. -What level you need to be to become a Magician (8) -What level you need to be to become a Warrior (10) -What level you need to be to become a Bowman (10) -What level you need to be to become a Thief (10) -How much INT you need to have to become a Magician (20) -How much STR you need to have to become a Warrior (35) -How much DEX you need to have to become a Bowman (25) -How much DEX you need to have to become a Thief (25) -How much EXP you need to go from Level 1 to Level 2 (15) To collect the coupons, kill the Ligators on the stage. Each Ligator will drop a coupon. Collect the number of coupons you need, no more, no less and talk to the NPC again. She will reward you with a Pass. Drop the Pass for your leader to pick up the Pass. When all 3 passes are handed over to the leader, the leader will talk to the NPC. Stage completed, and the portal opens to the next stage. Rewards: 100exp for each party member, plus any exp gained from killing Ligators. -------------------------------------------------- 4.02 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Stage 2 -------------------------------------------------- In stage 2, things may be a little confusing. Three party members will hang on the vines, making a combination. The leader will then talk to the NPC on the right side and you will pass the stage if the combination is correct. The possible combinations are listed below. -Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left. -Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Right. -Top Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Right. -Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right. Rewards: 200exp for each party member. -------------------------------------------------- 4.03 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Stage 3 -------------------------------------------------- Stage 3 is very similar to Stage 2, except you will need to stand on platforms, and there are 5 of them, which means more possible combinations. The number of each platform is determined by how many animals there are in total on each platform. All the possible combinations are listed below. -123 -124 -125 -134 -135 -145 -234 -235 -245 -345 Rewards: 400exp for each party member. -------------------------------------------------- 4.04 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Stage 4 -------------------------------------------------- Just like Stages 2 and 3. There are 6 barrels you must stand on this time, making it even harder. The possible combinations are listed below. -123 -124 -125 -126 -134 -135 -136 -145 -146 -156 -234 -235 -236 -245 -246 -256 -345 -346 -356 -456 Rewards: 800exp for each party member. ----------------------------------------------------- 4.05 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Last Stage ----------------------------------------------------- Hardest stage by far. No number combinations though, thankfully. Your party must kill 3 Curse Eyes, 5 Jr. Neckis and King Slime. Each of them will drop a Pass. Your leader must have 10 Passes at the end of the stage. He/ She must hand over all the Passes to the NPC on the right, then the stage will be completed. Talk to the NPC on the right and then you will automatically be teleported to the Bonus stage and receive your reward. There are many different rewards you may receive. They will be listed below. Rewards: 1500exp for each party member, any exp gained from killing Curse Eyes, Jr.Neckis, King Slime and any Slimes he summons. Some of the variations of the prize are listed below. -Lightning Earrings -Star Earrings -Red Cross Earrings -Gold Earrings -Sapphire Earrings -Emerald Earrings -Brown Bamboo Hat -Blue Bamboo Hat -Green Bamboo Hat -8 Ores (ones that aren't rare, such as Steel or Topaz) -5 Ores (not very common or rare, such as Gold) -3 Ores (rare ones, such as Black Crystal or Diamond) -Scroll for Gloves for DEX (10%) -Scroll for Overall Armour for DEX (10%) -Scroll for Topwear for Def (10%) -Scroll for Bottomwear for Def (10%) -Scroll for Helmet for Def (10%) -5 Sets of Subi Throwing Stars -2 Sets of Wolbi Throwing Stars -1 Set of Mokbi Throwing Stars -30 Screws ------------------------------------------------------ 4.06 Guide for Kerning City PQ (members) - Bonus Stage ------------------------------------------------------ Just a bonus stage filled with Horned Mushrooms and Green Mushrooms. Normal drops, normal exp, except the Exp is split up with the whole party. ---------------------------------------- 5.00 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) ---------------------------------------- Just some added information Party Quest leaders might want to know. Listed below. -------------------------------------------------- 5.01 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Stage 1 -------------------------------------------------- You don't need a Pass for yourself, just help your party members get their coupons. You need as many Passes as the other members in your party, either 3 or 2. You can pass the stage with only 2 Passes only if one of your party members are no longer in the PQ.* *Note: If a party member has already given you his/her pass and then leaves (for one reason or another), then you have 3 Passes and you only need 2, keep the extra Pass. Then in the Last Stage, you won't have to kill King Slime. Substitute your party members' Pass for King Slimes'. Then you will only need to kill the Curse Eyes and Jr. Neckis. -------------------------------------------------- 5.02 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Stage 2 -------------------------------------------------- Click on Cloto to check if the combination is correct or not. If one of your party members is bad at these combination Stages, tell him/ her to get down and replace him/ her. -------------------------------------------------- 5.03 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Stage 3 -------------------------------------------------- Click on Cloto to check if the combination is correct or not. If one of your party members is bad at these combination Stages, tell him/ her to get down and replace him/ her. -------------------------------------------------- 5.04 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Stage 4 -------------------------------------------------- Click on Cloto to check if the combination is correct or not. If one of your party members is bad at these combination Stages, tell him/ her to get down and replace him/ her. ----------------------------------------------------- 5.05 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Last Stage ----------------------------------------------------- You need a total of 10 Passes to complete the stage. 3 from the Curse Eyes, 6 from the Jr. Neckis and 1 from King Slime. Talk to Cloto when you've got all of them, and talk to her again to get your prize and be automatically teleported to the Bonus Stage map. ------------------------------------------------------ 5.06 Guide for Kerning City PQ (leaders) - Bonus Stage ------------------------------------------------------ When you're ready to try and rush, tell your party members to keep jumping in the bottom right corner or the Bonus Stage screen. It will enable you to get out of the PQ before them, thus giving you a chance to reach the PQ NPC before someone else is able to enter the PQ. Take advantage of this, and hurry! Being a PQ leader is NOT recommended if you have dial-up internet or you have an old computer, or any computer that is slow. ------------------------------------------------------------- 5.07 Kerning City PQ - How to choose your party members guide ------------------------------------------------------------- This section will advise you on what kind of members you would want if you're the leader. Warriors - Getting Warriors of any level are discouraged, but if have to get one, then make sure he/ she is AT LEAST Lv 26. Any Warriors below that level tend to be extremely weak and useless in the PQ in the 1st stage and the last stage. Magicians - Most Magicians are extremely helpful in Party Quest. Any level Magician is good for PQ, but try to get a level 23+ since they have a decent level of Magic Guard. Bowmen - Bowmen tend to be extremely weak at the lower levels. So if you want one, try to make sure he/ she is AT LEAST level 25. Even then, Bowmen are not much of a help in the slaying of King Slime. Throwing Star Thieves - Pretty good. Second in usefulness only to Magicians. Get them if they're level 24+. Dagger Thieves - Okay. Not bad, even though warriors of the same level can do more damage, since Warriors have low accuracy and therefore do 1's on monsters in the PQ a lot, or just often miss. So they're okay, and get them if they're level 25+. ---------------------------------------- 6.00 Guide for Getting into Party Quests ---------------------------------------- Since only 1 party is allowed into a PQ on a particular channel at a time, players have resorted to getting other means of getting in the PQ, such as rushing and AC (short for Auto Click). Another way is to track player who are in the PQ to see what stage they are up to, and start clicking ferociously when they near the end. All three of these ways are explained below. -------------------------------------------------- 6.01 Guide for Getting into Party Quests - Rushing -------------------------------------------------- Rushing - Players jump around in the corner of the Bonus Stage to lag the game so that the leader goes out first and has time to get back to the PQ area and click on Cloto to try and get in again. The other party members will still be in the PQ for a few more seconds so no one else can get in yet. Another aspect of rushing is sending out a scout. If just one person goes out, the other members still get to stay in, unless there is only 1 person left in the PQ after that. Anyways, the scout's job is to go outside and report to the leader how many people are outside. Another aspect of the scout's job is to write down the names of the people around the PQ area, so if the rush is unsuccessful, the party will still have a track. And last but not least, if the party is 1 or 2 members short of the number needed to get in. The scout then has to go to channel 1 and tell 1 or 2 people depending on the number of PQers needed and tell them to go to CH #. Tell them to stand next to Lakelis so when the leader comes out he/ she can invite the 1/2 people straight away and attempt to rush. ------------------------------------------------ 6.02 Guide for Getting into Party Quests - Track ------------------------------------------------ Track - Tracking people to see what stage they are on. When they reach the Bonus Stage, the leaders should start clicking as fast as they possibly can. To track someone, type /find (person's name) in your chat box. ----------------------------------------------------- 6.03 Guide for Getting into Party Quests - Auto-Click ----------------------------------------------------- Auto-Click - A program which automatically clicks for you at an awesome speed. It really helps in getting into Party Quests, but however, it is against the rules of MapleStory so if you get caught using AC, you will be banned from the game. ------------------------------------------------------------ 6.04 Guide for Getting into Party Quests - Fallen Angel's AC ------------------------------------------------------------ If you've chosen to AC regardless of the consequences, then I recommend Fallen Angel's Auto-Clicker. It's an Auto-Clicker especially designed for MapleStory, and it's free. Take into mind that I have Fallen Angel's permission and you must not alter, copy or sell this AC in any way. Download this AC at: http://www.faautoclick.tk/ ------------------------------------- 7.00 FAQ for Kerning City Party Quest ------------------------------------- Many frequently asked questions and their answers are listed below. Q: Out of rushing, AC and track, are any of them against MapleStory's Rules? A: Out of those three methods of getting into PQ's, only AC is against MapleStory's rules. Rushing is just a glitch in the game, and isn't prohibited. Track isn't in any way a violation of MapleStory's rules. Q: How much HP does King Slime have? A: King Slime has 8,000 HP. Q: I can't get through most of the portals in the PQ! What can I do? A: For the portals, you do not have to go through the middle. Just stay at the bottom and press up, that'll do fine. Q: Can we stay for as long as we like in the Bonus Stage? A: No, you only have 30 minutes to do the whole PQ. Once the time is up, you will get kicked out of the PQ, or you can choose to rush before the time is up. Q: What happens if one or more of the party members dies or logs out? A: If only one of your party members dies, you can continue. However, if that happens, the leader will also have to participate in stages 2 to 4. If more than one player dies or logs out, the entire party shall be kicked out of the PQ. Q: Approximately how much Exp is gained from completing a Kerning City PQ? A: This question will be answered in the next chapter, since there's so much to it. Q: There were no Curse Eyes, Jr. Neckis’ or no King Slime! What happened? Is this a glitch in the game? A: Yes, it's a glitch. This only happens when the party that entered the PQ before you didn't get past the Last Stage, and the monsters haven't respawned yet. You will have to rush. Q: Is it possible to avoid King Slime's earthquake attack? A: Yes, and it's not very hard. First of all, Thieves can sometimes dodge the attack automatically due to their high avoidability. But for the other classes, jump as soon as you know King Slimes' going to do earthquake. You can dodge it that way. Q: I was using Dark Sight but King Slime still damaged me. Is it a glitch? A: No. Dark Sight only protects you from physical damage but doesn't protect you from magical attacks, like King Slime's Earthquake Attack. --------------------------------------------- 8.00 Kerning City Party Quest Exp Calculations --------------------------------------------- This chapter tells you about how much Exp you get (approximately) from completing 1 Kerning Party Quest. Stage 1: 100Exp automatically, and at least 652 more Exp from killing Ligators (even if you didn't join in, you automatically get some Exp from your Party members' kills) and at most 2835 more Exp if you killed ALL the Ligators for your whole party, and only if everyone needed 35 coupons. Does NOT include excess kills. Stage 2: 200Exp automatically. Stage 3: 400Exp automatically. Stage 4: 800Exp automatically. Last Stage: 1500Exp automatically, and at least 748 more Exp from killing Curse Eyes, Jr. Neckis and King Slime (even if you didn't join in, you automatically get some Exp from your Party members' kills) and at most ~1450 (not as accurate as the other numbers). Bonus Stage: Any Exp from killing Horned and Green Mushrooms. Now for the real numbers... Drum roll! Least Exp Possible: ~4,400 Exp. Quite a lot even though it's the least amount! Average Exp per PQ: ~5,843 Exp. Wow, that's heaps of Exp! Most Exp Possible: ~7285 Exp. Whoa. That's like, 30% Exp for lower levels. Does NOT include excess kills in stage 1 and ANY kills in Bonus. ---------------- 9.00 Terminology ---------------- AC: Auto-Click. A program that clicks rapidly for you, giving you a better chance of getting in the PQ. However, it's against the rules so you'll get banned if you're found out. AFK: Away From Keyboard. Player is away from computer, possibly eating, having a shower, or whatever. BACK: If someone is back after an AFK session or a BRB session. BRB: Be Right Back. The lesser form of AFK, in which the player will be back pretty soon. BONUS: What you or your party members say when your track inside gets to the Bonus Stage. Tell your leader that so he can start clicking/ ACing at that point. CHANNEL #: Indicates for you to change to that channel. It may be empty, or maybe a party member may have track in that particular channel. D/C: Disconnected. When a player get disconnected from MapleStory because of their ISP or computer. EXIT: What is yelled when the track has left the Bonus Stage and gone to the Exit map. You should be able to enter the PQ around ~10 seconds after they reach Exit, unless the track is a scout. MISS: Said when you have missed the chance of getting into PQ because another party went in, or the party inside rushed. NEWB: A new player. Not to be confused with noob, since newbs usually comply to requests and are willing to learn. NOOB: An obnoxious, self-centred player. Usually very stubborn and won't respond to requests. Sometimes just plain stupid. OUT: What a player yells out when the track inside has come out, thus informing the leader to click now. PASS: What is needed to get to the next stage. You need 3 (2 if one of your members died or d/ced) for stage 1 and 10 for the Last Stage. POTS: Potions. What is used to restore HP or MP. PQ: Party Quest. Thought you should've learned that by now. RUSH: To exit the PQ and make your way back to the PQ area, in an attempt to get back inside and do the PQ again. SCOUT: Someone who goes out of the PQ before the others and scouts the area, etc. More is explained in chapter 6.01. SIN: Short for Assassin. Also used when applying the term to a Throwing Star Thief. TRACK: Track. When you know the name of a person who is in the PQ, so you can type /find (person's name) in your chat box which will tell you what stage they’re on. Allows you to know at what point to start clicking so you don't end up with sore hands. --------------------- 10.00 About This Guide --------------------- A few things about this guide. --------------------- 10.01 Version History --------------------- Version 2.90 Fixed up some lines I missed out in the last update and added another prize to the list that I had left out.
