Any support is most deeply appreciated! - This guide is for personal use only! NOTES CONCERNING THE GAME: - DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER LOOT SOMEONE! This can be MOST annoying, so simply do not pick up someone elses drops without his permission! Unless, of course, he is deliberatly leaving the stuff... - DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER KS SOMEONE! KS stands for Kill Steal. It means you do not go killing someone elses monster. - Try to be nice to newbies. Help them. It can make you feel really good! - You should NOT be nice to noobs. What are noobs? Noobs are those that beg for money and stuff they can easily get, noobs are annoying, noobs loot, noobs ks, but noobs are NOT newbs! If someone just started playing the game, that does not make him a noob! - Oh, this goes without saying, but whatever, I will say it: DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER HACK! Hackers are without doubt the MOST annoying noobs ever! If you catch one in the act, make a nice screenshot and report the hacker! SPECIAL THANKS: - Most of all: WIZET! - And of course... Introduction ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Who am I? My name is Zeby, I have a Hunter in Khaini, MapleGlobal. I am also training an Assassin. - What is this guide for? We already have some Hunter guides, I just thought I would add one that adds up all the good parts of them, for quick reverence. - Why pick the bowman?? First of all, archers are cool. But that is purely my opinion. Pros and cons: PROS: - You get to shoot monsters from distance! How cool is that? - Bowmen just look SO cool! - You do not get hit too much by monsters, making you die less. - Bowmen just look SO cool! - You have a character that gets truely fun to play from lvl 30 up. - Bowmen just look SO cool! (ok, we got that part) - You have a HIGH accuracy and a HIGH avoidability, because of your dexterity. CONS: - You cannot hit monsters at close range. Power-knock back at 2nd job solve most of the problem, if you can get to 3rd job you do not have a problem with this at all. - You can only shoot while standing, though this is not such a problem: you automatically shoot a bit up and down. - You use up arrows, though they are really cheap to make. At 2nd job you get Soul Arrow, which allows you to shoot without using up arrows. So no problem at all! - Why pick the hunter over crossbowman? It does not really matter, hunter or crossbowman. The only difference: Hunters shoot faster, crossbowmen do more damage. So I should pick the crossbowman, right? No, unless you prefer crossbows. Because you shoot faster, you do more damage too! And when you have Soul Arrow, you do not use up arrows too, so that is no problem at all! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 002. Ability Points ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a small part. When making a character, try to aim for this: ANY Strength ANY Dexterity 4 Intelligence 4 Luck These are the perfect stats, though 5 Intelligence or Luck is not bad. If you buy NX cash, you can reset the 5 to 4, so no problem at all. Now, you should aim to have your natural Strength 5 points above your level. All other points should be in Dexterity. So, if you're level 50, you have 55 Strength and about 210 Dexterity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 003. Skills for lvl 10-30 ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ok, for the real thing. First of all, I will point out the two best skills. - Eye of the Amazon (passive) This is the MOST important skill you have. You can shoot so much further! - Critical Shot (passive) This is SO good! If mastered, there is a 40% chance you DOUBLE your damage! On every shot! Now, you have a choice to make. Which of the two attacking skills must you take? I will explain the differences. - Arrow Blow You shoot one time and do 260% damage for 14 MP. This is a good skill, but I am inclined to believe, as do most guides, that Double Shot is better. - Double Shot You shoot TWO arrows and do 130% damage for 15 MP. This does as much damage as Arrow Blow, but costs one MP more. BUT, here is the big PLUS: you get TWO chances on a critical hit! Let me explain this last bit some more. Compare it to throwing dice. If you throw one 12-sided dice, you do (12 + 1) / 2 damage. This is 6.5. Ok? Now, throw two 6-sided dice. You do (6 + 1) / 2 damage, but then twice! So, you do 3,5 x2 damage = 7. Pure mathematics point out that Double Shot does more damage. If you think that you should pick Arrow Blow because Double Shot takes up two arrows in stead of the one Arrow Blow uses, that is no problem when you reach level 40 ~ 42. The only true advantage that Arrow Blow gives you, is that you have one more skill point left. It will only give you one more accuracy in the end, though. Now, for the Skill build up: Level 10 ~ 1 free point in Arrow Blow (just a bit more damage, and you need it for Double Shot) Level 11 ~ 3 points in The Blessing of the Amazon Level 12 ~ 3 points in Eye of the Amazon Level 13 ~ 3 points in Eye of the Amazon Level 14 ~ 2 points in Eye of the Amazon, 1 point in Critical Shot Level 15 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 16 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 17 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 18 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 19 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 20 ~ 3 points in Critical Shot Level 21 ~ 1 point in Critcal Shot, 2 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 22 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 23 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 24 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 25 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 26 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow) Level 27 ~ 3 points in Double Shot (or Arrow Blow, which gives you one more skill point, read below) The last 9 points are yours for the dividing. You may want to put them in the other offensive skill, though I suggest you put them in Focus. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE BLESSING OF THE AMAZON! That skill is just BAD! So: Level 27 ~ 1 point in Focus (if you mastered Arrow Blow) Level 28 ~ 3 points in Focus Level 29 ~ 3 points in Focus Level 30 ~ 3 points in Focus By now you should have: The Blessing of the Amazon ~ 3 Eye of the Amazon ~ 8 (mastered) Critical Shot ~ 20 (mastered) Focus ~ 9 or 10 Arrow Blow ~ 20 (mastered) or 1 Double Shot ~ 20 (mastered) or 0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 004. Skills for lvl 30-70 ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let me point out the good skills (so all except Final Attack): - Bow Mastery This is the best hunter skill. You will immediately notice that increasing the minimum damage is SO great for your overall damage. This skill OWNS! I should point out that the last point is useless: it only gives you one more accuracy, which you should have plenty by that time. - Arrow Bomb Hitting 6 monsters at a time and even STUNNING them! This skill gives you great crowd control, when mastered you can easily kill monsters. - Soul Arrow: bow Shooting without using up arrows... It goes without saying, I guess. Let me point out one thing though: if you get the chance to buy 1 steel arrow, combine it with this skill. You put it on ALL the time, get the extra ATK and STR, and you DO NOT USE UP THE ARROW! Remember to refresh it after 10 minutes (mastered) though! - Power Knock-back This enables you to get those monster to back off. Eventually, you can easily knock-back 6 monsters at a time AND damage them seriously (well, at least for swinging your bow around)! Plus, I love the sound it makes! - Bow Booster This is a pretty good skill. When mastered, you shoot faster for 200 seconds for a mere 10 HP and MP. This skill is ESPESCIALLY usefull when fighting monsters with a magic attack, though it is nice overall too. Ok, time to point out why Final Attack is a bad skill: - It costs 30 points to master. - It fires only 1 arrow instead of the 2 you can with Double Shot, so you cannot do your maximum damage. - It costs 30 skill points to master! That is ten levels! AND MOST IMPORTANT: I quote from goNucks Bowman and Crossbowman FAQ (good reference, you should check it out!): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOWEVER, sometimes FA is very annoying. It could activate when you don't want to and result in a death. When you're fighting a boss monster that requires timing and synchronization between jumping and shooting FA could kill you. Also if you one hit a monster you'll be wasting time by doing an additional shot. FA is also a problem for mobs. If you did enough damage to knock back a monster, which is godly for an archer and WHAM FA activates and the monster stops being knocked back and chases you. That's a problem. FA also doesn't work with third job skills, so if you are going to max it, max it out early so you get the most 'fun' out of it before it becomes obsolete. If you skip FA you can max out other more useful spells faster. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have experimented a bit with this myself, this is what I suggest. Refer to other guides for more feedback and then decide on what to do. Level 30 ~ 1 free point in Bomb Shot (crowd control!) Level 31 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 32 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 33 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 34 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 35 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 36 ~ 3 points in Bow Mastery Level 37 ~ 1 points in Bow Mastery, 2 point in Bow Booster Level 38 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 39 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow Level 40 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow Level 41 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow Level 42 ~ 1 points in Soul Arrow: bow, 2 point in Power Knock-back NOTE: In stead of Power Knock-back, you could take Arrow Bomb. HOWEVER, since Power Knock-back costs less skill points to master, I would go with this one first. In this guide, I have chosen to divide the points a bit. Since both skills will only cost more MP when half-mastered. Level 43 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 44 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 45 ~ 2 points in Power Knock-back ANOTHER NOTE: From here on, you may want to continue with Arrow Bomb and Power Knock-back. I would do that, but you may want to pick Bow Booster; this way it costs less HP and MP. I have thought of another skill-tree. This tree is probably as good as the first one (I do not believe the second is the best one to follow) but has some of the advantages of the second: it costs WAY less MP! If you are the adventurous type, follow this one and see how to handle the character best! Level 45 ~ 1 point in Arrow Bomb Level 46 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 47 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 48 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 49 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 50 ~ 1 points in Arrow Bomb, 2 points in Power Knock-back Level 51 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 52 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 53 ~ 2 points in Power Knock-back, 1 in Arrow Bomb Level 54 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 55 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 56 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 57 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 58 ~ 2 points in Arrow Bomb, 1 point in Bow Booster Level 59 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 60 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 61 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 62 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 63 ~ 2 points in Bow Booster OR Level 45 ~ 1 point in Bow Booster Level 46 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 47 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 48 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 49 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 50 ~ 2 points in Bow Booster, 1 point in Arrow Bomb Level 51 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 52 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 53 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 54 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 55 ~ 1 Points in Arrow Bomb, 2 point in Power Knock-back Level 56 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 57 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 58 ~ 2 points in Power Knock-back, 1 point in Arrow Bomb Level 59 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 60 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 61 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 62 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 63 ~ 2 points in Arrow Bomb AND ONCE MORE, A NOTE: Here both ways have come together. Level 63 ~ 1 point in Soul Arrow: bow Level 64 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow Level 65 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow Level 66 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: bow OR Level 45 ~ 1 point in Arrow Bomb Level 46 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 47 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 48 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 49 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 50 ~ 1 points in Arrow Bomb, 2 points in Bow Booster Level 51 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 52 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 53 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 54 ~ 3 points in Bow Booster Level 55 ~ 1 point in Bow Booster, 2 points in Soul Arrow: Bow Level 56 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: Bow Level 57 ~ 3 points in Soul Arrow: Bow Level 58 ~ 2 points in Soul Arrow: Bow Level 59 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 60 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 61 ~ 3 points in Power Knock-back Level 62 ~ 1 point in Power Knock-back, 2 points in Arrow Bomb Level 63 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 64 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 65 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Level 66 ~ 3 points in Arrow Bomb Now you have 12 excess skill points. Since you do not want to put them in Final Attack, you have to put them in the First Job skills. If you followed my advice and put your 1st job excess skill points in focus, you can now put 11 (or 10) points more in that skill. Then you should put them in The Blessing of the Amazon or Arrow Blow / Double Shot, though I would not recommend that. You can put one point in Bow Mastery too - either skill will give you one more accuracy. By now you should have: The Blessing of the Amazon ~ 4 or 5 Eye of the Amazon ~ 8 (mastered) Critical Shot ~ 20 (mastered) Focus ~ 20 (mastered) Arrow Blow ~ 20 (mastered) or 1 Double Shot ~ 20 (mastered) or 0 Bow Mastery ~ 19 or 20 (mastered) Final Attack ~ 0 Bow Booster ~ 20 (mastered) Soul Arrow: bow ~ 20 (mastered) Power Knock-back ~ 20 (mastered) Bomb Shot ~ 30 (mastered) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 005. Skills for lvl 70+ ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How would I know this??? Perhaps you can find a guide where this has been worked out really well. I will only point out the best skills here, perhaps when I get to this level I will add a level-to-level skill build. # Under Construction # ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 006. Extensive guide for lvl 1-10 ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At first, I did not want to add this. But a friend convinced me otherwise. So, here goes! Level 1 ~ 10: Complete all the quests on Maple Island. There are a couple of reasons: - From Pio And The Recycling you get a chair! - They help you understand the game. - It looks incomplete if you still have Maple Island quests in your list. You should keep training here till you are level 10, because there are only easy monsters here. You can go to Victoria Island once you are level 9, if you like. There is a quest in Lith Harbor, which gives you some exp. Besides that, you can walk to Henysis where you will become the Archer. You can take the Taxi if you like, but Henysis is not so far and if you are level 9, you can train to level 10 on the way. Besides, you get to know the lay of the land. Once you reach level 10 and are in Henysis, go to the Mushroom Park. On the far right you will find a house. In there, you must talk to Athene of Pierce. Congratulations on becoming the Archer!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 007. Extensive guide for lvl 10-30 ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have made a GUIDELINE for traing at the 1st job. Experiment a bit, try some thougher monsters, until you find a monster that is easy to kill and gives you a lot of experience. You should try to take on monsters that you THEORATICALLY can kill in one shot. So, if you have mastered Critical Shot and mastered Double Shot, you can do 520% damage. If you have a maximum damage of 200, you would be able to kill monsters with about 1.000 HP, keeping in mind that monsters have a bit of Weapon Defense too. Now, I recommend the following: Level 10 ~ 15: First finish all quests. Except for the Blackbull quest, all quests around these levels are a piece of cake. The first Nella request may be though too. It really comes in handy to have a second character here, who can easily collect these items. Or, of course, a good buddy with a (reasonably) high level character. Oh, one thing: DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT DO THE CHIEF STAN QUEST! He sends you to Omega Sector. Just look around on hidden a bit, then you will see why you should not go there. Besides that: it costs you an inventory space. You do not have to use a bow yet. Get a good beginner-weapon and get to level 15 fast! The PERFECT monster to kill around this level is the Slime. You can find LOADS of Slimes in the so-called Slime Tree, which is actually a Dungeon. You can find it at The Forest South of Ellinia. Go to the topleft in this map and enter one of the two Warp Portals. You can recognise Dungeons by the Danger-sign next to them. Besides that, you wil want to get Tree Branches, with which you can make Processed Wood. When you get a bow, you will need these to make some arrows! You may also want to gather up a few Stiff Feathers. Try taking down some Pigs, though they may prove to be though until level 14. There is another place called Mushroom Garden where you may want to train, but I recommend training here from level 15 on. Since Slimes are not so fast and Orange Mushrooms ARE, it may be difficult to train fast enough here. Level 15 ~ 20: Some of these quests are do-able. Perhaps you can finish some unfinished quests from level 10 ~ 15. You might want to stick to Stumps or Axe stumps if you are really bold in order to get Tree Branches and Fire Wood. You will have to kill Pigs real fast and get some Stiff Feathers. After that, you can buy yourself a bow. You may also want to gather up materials and make the bow. Next, make yourself some arrows! Go to Vicious in Henysis Market. He will make 1000 arrows for 1 Processed Wood (you can make those there too) and 1 Stiff Feather. Many monsters drop these feathers, but Pigs are the only ones you can take on really good now. Level 20 ~ 25: Now, you can do the party quest. But you want to wait with that till level 25. Bowmen never get invited in the Kerning City party quest until you are a higher level. But perhaps you have a buddy with whom you can party. Again, try to finish some quests you have not finished yet. After that, you can train at Pig Beach. You can find this Hidden Street in the 3-way-road split. Go to the yellow flowers in the middle of the screen and use the secret warp! Level 25 ~ 29: Ok, now it is time to party quest! You should get enough pots, especially blue potions or mana elixers. You will have to keep using Double Shot or Arrow Blow in order to finish with your other members. If you are tired of the party quest, you can of course do the other quests you still have available. Or, you may want to gather some good mesos. I would recommend training with Horny Mushrooms, preferably in Ant Tunnel I, near Sleepywood. They drop your level 35 hat, the Pole-Feather hat. If you can get your hands on a level 25 Green Bamboo hat, you should stick with that one until level 40 or 50. But the Hornys still have quite a good mesodrop and are easy enough to kill! Level 30: Time to become a Hunter! First, go to Athene of Pierce again. Then you must go to the top-right of Henysis and use the warp portal. This is the road that leads to the dungeon, Sleepywood. You will find the Second Job Instructor around here. Talk to him and you will be warped to a dungeon much like the Ant Tunnel, only there are Undead Mushrooms and Curse Eyes. They are a bit stronger than normal monsters, but still, they are pretty weak. You must collect 30 marbles here. Then talk with the Instructor again and pick the Hunter. So: Congratulations on becoming the Hunter! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 008. Extensive guide for lvl 30-70 ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What should I do now? Well, you will want to get to level 40 fast. Then you can do the Ludibrium party quest. You can do it at level 35, but you will not be able to take on the boss and it takes FOREVER to find a party. If you have a guild, it is much easier to get in a party. So: Level 30 ~ 40: Finish all your Victoria Island quests. Soon, you will head to Orbis! Before going there, you will want to be near level 35. Train with Wild Boars in Land of the Wild Boar II. Go to the East Domain of Perion and head to the top right. Here you will find a secret warp. Before you go to Orbis, you should now do the Chief Stan quest (the one with Omega Sector). Once you are level 35 and have finished your quests, head to Orbis! Here you can find some easy quests. I warn you though, do not go to deep in the Orbis tower. For some reason, we Bowmen cannot kill the Sentinels... They do too much damage and have a too high Weapon Defense. Jr. Pepes are quite hard too. After you finished the quests, you can train in the Garden of Three Colours. Head to Cloud Park. There, go to the top left. Here you can warp to this place. The monsters here are easy to kill. Train a bit in Orbis first, until you are level 37-38. Now, head for Ludibrium. A few quests here are REALLY easy. Go do these first. For example, The Lost Guard is a piece of cake and it gives you 20 Eos Rock Scrolls! Plus, you can do this quest every 24 hours! Also, you should go to Omega Sector. The quests there may still be too though, but you still have the letter you got from Chief Stan. Level 40 ~ 50: Once you are level 40, you may want to do the party quest. You get LOVELY ewards, great experience and you use up almost NO pots! Perhaps a few healing potions, and about ten mana elixers, but that is all. Training costs you WAY much more! But ok, it can get a little boring and if you live in America, you have to get up real early. That way, you can easily get in the party quest. For me, living in Holland, it is easy. When I am in the party quest, you are probably asleep. You will want to do all the quests available. The training gets more boring than the party quest, since it costs MUCH more time. But perhaps you cannot get in a party quest as easily as me. So, some training spots: - Off-limits (the Rice quest) - Boswell Park I-III - Level 50 ~ 60: NOTE: Some things here are but guessing, though they are educated guesses! One thing is certain: Mushmom has great drops! You should party fight him with a Cleric, or try solo. Once you reach level 55, I think solo will be easy. BUT! If you go in a party, make sure you KNOW the guy you party with. Else, he/she might very well loot you! You should split the drops - each take the things for his own class, and sell the rest, then split the meso. My first Mushmom was at level 45, I first saw it on level 40. I got a Mushmom Spore only and when I was only looking, it only dropped an Omok Piece. It can drop Ilbis though, so it is DEFINATLY worth trying! And it means FUN! Besides Mushmom, there probably are some quests you may love. At level 50, you should do a solo Alishar. Get in some low-level party (you get more experience too) and kill the fatty! If you are looking for an Olympus: they cost WAY TOO MUCH in the Free Market. It costs you pretty much to make it in the Apparatus Room too, though I did that anyway. If you have a second character, go train with Wild Cargos. They drop the bow. You could try to train there yourself, which will be pretty hard though! Well, there is not that much to do anymore. You should try the quests, some may be too hard. I reccomend you do NOT buy any items you may need in the Free Market, otherwise you have absolutely NOTHING to do. You may want to try Zakum, just for the fun of seeing him - but you will not get there unless you know some pretty though people. Anyway, you die there. What is there left to do? Well, I do not know yet. When I reach this level, I will tell you. I guess it will be fun to show off, perhaps you should do some bossing. Mushmom a bit, Zombie Mushmom if you want to... Look for a party, it more than doubles the amount of fun! It all comes down to this: train, train, train and train. Look in the Training guide for advice. Level 60 ~ 69: Zombie Mushmom will be easy - try it sometimes, you can get good items! Try the Jr. Balrog with some good friends. In a party, you should be able to take it on. # Under Construction # ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ 009.
